Building a Space of Innovation

Specialising in Residential and Hotel Design, Carolyn McLean Architect provides personalised architectural and interior design from Site Feasibility and Concept Design through to Contract Administration. We like to be with our clients through the entire process.

With 10 years of international experience in Dubai, India, Fiji and Malaysia and 12 years Australian experience, designs are a based on strong initial concepts and vision for the project, global design research, site specific climatic response and focus on the end user/client.

Based in Brisbane, we have a focus on sub-tropical architecture and multi-dwelling projects provide a great opportunity to successfully merge exterior and interior spaces.

We are also undertaking projects across Australia.

Carolyn was previously on the Board of the Emirates Green Building Council and has spoken extensively at conferences in the middle east and Australia on Sustainable Design, Water Footprint and Affordable housing.

We specialise in

  • multi-residential developments
  • hotel design + renovation
  • retail architecture + interior fitout
  • individual house design
  • sustainable design towards zero carbon
  • affordable, adaptable + seniors living housing

In apartment developments the one-bedroom apartments are generally the poor cousins, the corner apartments are usually two-bedroom apartments, while the one-bedroom apartments are in the centre, and miss out on natural ventilation. I am interested in working with developers and clients to change that and develop a different product for the one bedders and smaller spaces, and to work with developers on apartments which are more sub-tropical in nature.
