Fiji’s benign climate is ideal for creating open air retail. The client’s brief was to incorporate small office and consulting suites above a ground floor retail centre. Due to new future housing developments around the area, a food court and 2 cinemas were also included.

This centre aims at creating a community area for locals to meet, shop, work and be entertained. At the heart of the design is a top floor open air food court with fresh food options available all day and into the evening and complimenting the offices and cinemas.

This also creates a vibrant location for small businesses to set up in the office suites, with convenience retail provided below covering all their needs and the food court available for impromptu meetings.

The architecture is bold and colourful with strategic signage opportunities for the retail outlets along the main street elevation. Essential to the design is also a wide roof overhang open air colonnade along the retail strip shops providing shading and protection from the elements but also allowing breezes to cool the spaces.
