Angus & Robertson

Parramatta Store

The reimaging of Angus & Robertson bookstores began nationally in 2001. Baldasso Cortese worked closely with the A&R project managers and marketing personnel to develop a strong retail concept flexible enough for widespread application. This is an ongoing national redevelopment with projects ranging from $100K to $1M.

The refurbishments generally consist of a new shopfront, lighting, flooring and display joinery. The design for Westfield Parramatta focused on a large expanse of open shopfront with an asymmectrical panelled ‘half portal’ and a combination of glass, illuminated signage and corporate colours. Additional square wall mounted lights were incorporated into the shopfront above the glass display boxes to balance the portal. Successfully applied at Paramatta, these design concepts are now being applied throughout the network.

Carolyn McLean was the principal designer working on this project when she was working at Baldasso Cortese.
