Project Team
Whilst working with Woods Bagot, I was pleased to be involved in the ‘Brooklyn on Brookes’ Apartment project with Metro Property Development on the corner of Ann and Brookes St, Fortitude Valley, Brisbane. The project location is in the heart of the café district and plans to add to that with ground floor retail along Ann Street incorporated into the design.
The architecture is inspired by the New York architecture of compact narrow building facades — a highly articulated façade which responds both to its orientation and neighbours was developed with red face brick and coloured glass on the northern façade across from the church buildings with their stained glass and brick construction. It is these elements specific to the site which allow the building to feel part of its environment and neighbourhood.
Large bi-fold windows in each apartment bring the Brisbane sub-tropical climate into the interior for the 90% of beautiful weather days.
The interiors are contemporary with crisp white kitchens with a splash of colour in the glass splash-backs. Neutral tiled floor finishes and bathroom design means these chic ‘city pad’ living apartments will be sure not to date.
