With this renovation of an existing timber and tin Queenslander home on 800m2 inner city Brisbane site, the family wanted to consolidate their kitchen/living/dining area into a contemporary space that captured more sunlight and suited their family life better.

There was a 4m space to the side of the house which was not being utilized so we decided to extend the house by 3m on the side and create a new kitchen/living /dining space. The extension also involved extending the house to the rear to create a new deck that engaged with the backyard.

Keeping the beauty of the traditional timber decorative elements while creating a contemporary pen space was key to the design concept.
