Ocean View house, Moreton Bay Region
Views of the beautiful Glasshouse mountains in the Sunshine Coast hinterland of Queensland and a quieter semi-rural life is what attracted the clients to this stunning piece of land to build their dream home on.
The steep slope has meant that this will be a pole structure and a light weight house, except for the western end of the house which sits just on the land and was decided as the best location for the garage and laundry.
The remainder of the house floats above the landscape and has a butterfly roof shape to capture the northern and southern light into the interior spaces.
Early design sketch
The design includes a large open living dining kitchen space with the entry door opening immediately to the fantastic mountain views beyond. A large double sided fireplace and extensive sliding stacking doors opening onto a north facing deck provides the ideal indoor / outdoor lifestyle the client is desiring.
A separate bedroom ‘pod’ is located on the north east side of the house and takes in the distant ocean views of Moreton Bay and provides an element of privacy from the main house.
